Accessibility at Beyaoshy
We want everyone who visits beyaoshy.com to be able to read it, move around it and reach us, whether they use a mouse, a keyboard, a screen reader, a phone or a magnifier. We work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and when someone tells us a page gets in their way, we fix it.
What is built into the site
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a "skip to content" link at the top.
- Headings run in order on every page, so a screen reader can jump between sections, and images that carry meaning have text alternatives.
- Text and buttons are set with enough contrast against the dark background, and the pages reflow when zoomed instead of cutting off.
- If your device asks for reduced motion, the site stops its animations on its own.
- Links that open another website say so before you follow them, and open in a new tab so this page stays where you left it.
- Questions and answers open and close with the keyboard, and the source list on our guides does too.
The accessibility menu
The round button in the lower left corner of every page opens the menu. You can also reach it from the keyboard: press Tab twice on any page to reach the "Accessibility options" link, then Enter. Your choices are remembered on this device until you press "Reset all", and they follow you from page to page.
Reading
- Bigger text enlarges everything below the top menu in three steps, so the text and the space around it grow together and nothing runs off the side of a phone.
- Text spacing widens the gaps between letters, words and paragraphs to the values in WCAG 2.2, which helps many readers with dyslexia.
- Line height puts more room between lines of text.
- Readable font switches the page to Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface the Braille Institute designed so similar letters are easy to tell apart.
- Align left lines every paragraph and heading up on the left edge, which is easier to follow than centered text.
- Highlight links underlines and outlines every link, so you never have to guess what is clickable.
- Read aloud reads the whole page, or any paragraph or heading you click, using the voice built into your own device. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else. It appears only on browsers that support speech.
- Page structure lists the page's headings and main areas, and takes you straight to the one you pick.
Color
- Contrast has two steps: high contrast, with brighter text, stronger borders and yellow highlights on the dark page, then a light page with dark text for readers who find light text on black hard to read.
- Saturation has three steps: softer color, stronger color, and grayscale.
Moving around
- Pause animations stops every fade, slide and the spinning globe on the home page.
- Hide images hides photographs and drawings so only the text remains.
- Highlight focus draws a thick yellow outline around whatever the keyboard is on.
- Big cursor replaces the mouse pointer with a large one that turns yellow over links.
- Reading guide puts a bar under the pointer that follows it down the page, to help you keep your place.
Big cursor and the reading guide only appear on devices with a mouse. The menu is our own, built into the site, not a third-party overlay. It changes how our pages look and behave; it does not replace the work described above, and it is not a substitute for your own browser, operating system or assistive technology settings.
Parts we do not fully control
- Our contact form is provided by GoHighLevel and loads inside the page. If it does not work for you, email us at hello@beyaoshy.com and we will reply within one business day.
- The globe at the bottom of every page switches the site to Spanish. The Spanish is a machine translation by Google, shown on our own pages so the address, links and contact form keep working. It can get industry terms wrong, and we do not edit it. Pick English from the same globe to switch back.
- Pages on other websites that we link to as sources are run by those organizations.
Tell us about a barrier
If anything on this site is hard to use, email hello@beyaoshy.com with the page and what happened. We will reply within one business day, and if we cannot fix it straight away we will get you the information another way in the meantime.
