TikTok SEO for local businesses, built around what people search.

People open TikTok and type what they want: somewhere for birria tonight, a lash lift nearby, how to stop a toilet from running. The videos that answer get watched, the profile behind them gets a visit, and some of those visits turn into bookings. We research those searches for your trade and your city, then build plain, useful video around them so more of the answers come from you.

Written for restaurants, med spas, salons and wellness clinics, home service companies and remodelers.

TikTok search review of your account

People look things up on TikTok. They do not only scroll it.

The feed is what most owners picture when they think of TikTok. The search bar is where intent shows up: a dish and a neighborhood, a treatment and a city, a problem and the word fix. A video that matches one of those searches reaches someone who is already deciding, which is a very different viewer from a person flicking past.

Somewhere to eat, tonight or this weekend

A dish plus a neighborhood is somebody making plans. They want to see the plate, the room and the line before they pick, and a short video shows all three faster than a menu can.

A treatment, a stylist, a first appointment

Before booking a facial, a color appointment or a first massage, people want to see the space and hear from the person doing the work. Video answers the question a price list cannot: will I be comfortable there?

The repair, the upgrade, the layout idea

Plenty of people who search for how a fix is done decide they would rather pay someone to do it. The business that explained it clearly, and is nearby, is the natural one to call.

TikTok videos turn up on Google too

Google shows TikTok videos in its results for some searches, so a video captioned for TikTok search can be found from Google as well. It sits beside your Business Profile and local SEO, not in place of them.

The work is ordinary, and that is the point.

There is no hidden setting that makes a video rank. TikTok's own guidance points to steady, practical work: knowing the words people use, putting them where they count, and giving viewers a reason to keep watching and then come in. These are the six jobs we repeat every week.

Find the words people type

We type what your customers would type, for your trade in your city, and note the suggestions the search box offers as you type, the phrases on the videos that already appear, and the questions your staff hear every day. That becomes a list of searches, each worth a video.

Say it, show it, write it

Each video carries the searched words three ways: spoken in the opening seconds, set as text on screen for people watching on mute, and written into the caption along with the city. TikTok does not say which of those it leans on most, so we cover all three.

A profile that finishes the job

A viewer who likes the video taps through to see who made it. The profile answers in seconds: a name people would recognize, the right business category, a bio that says what you do and which area you serve, and one link that goes straight to booking, ordering or a quote request.

A posting rhythm you can hold

Simple, useful video on a steady schedule: how-tos, before and after, behind the counter, and short answers to what customers already ask. A modest schedule kept for months is worth more than a burst of posts that stops in week three.

Answers in the comments

A question in the comments is free research and a public chance to be helpful. We answer in your voice, promptly, and a good question often becomes the next video, answered properly on camera.

A count of what it produced

A view count cannot tell you whether anyone booked. We track profile visits, taps on a bio link tagged so your website analytics can tell TikTok traffic apart, and calls through a tracking number used only on TikTok, and report them next to what was posted.

Where we start filming, trade by trade.

Nobody has to dance. The formats that suit a local business show the work and answer a question, filmed on a phone by someone who knows the job. Here is where we usually start.

Restaurants and cafes

The plate coming off the line, the dish people cross town for, a server's pick for a first visit, what is new on the menu this week. Captions name the dish and the neighborhood. More on restaurant marketing.

Med spas

A provider explaining what a treatment involves, how long it takes and who it suits, filmed in the actual treatment room. Claims about results stay within what you can properly say. More on med spa marketing.

Salons and wellness

A cut or color from start to finish, a stylist explaining what to ask for, a walkthrough of a first visit to the clinic or the massage room. People book a person, so the person belongs on screen. More on wellness marketing.

Home services

A technician explaining a common fault in plain words, what a maintenance visit actually checks, and the small fix a homeowner can do safely before the point where they should call. More on home services marketing.

Remodelers

Before and after of a real job, a walkthrough halfway through the build, a designer explaining one layout decision, and the question every client asks at the first meeting. More on remodeling marketing.

Any trade: the questions

Write down what customers ask before they buy. Each question is a search someone is typing, and a short, honest answer to it is a video that can keep being found long after it was posted.

TikTok does not publish how search ranks videos. We work from what it does publish.

TikTok has described the broad signals behind what it recommends, but not the formula or the weights, and results differ from one viewer to the next. So we follow TikTok's own guidance, watch what happens to real videos, and keep our promises to the things we control.

What TikTok has said about its recommendations

  • How people interact with a video, such as watching it to the end, sharing it, commenting and following the account
  • Information attached to the video, such as the caption, the sound and hashtags
  • Language, country and device settings, which TikTok says carry less weight than the two above
  • Follower count is not a direct factor, by TikTok's own account, so a small local account is not shut out from the start

What we will not promise

  • A number of views, followers or likes by a certain date
  • A position for any search, since results vary by viewer and change over time
  • That a particular video will take off; most do not, and the plan does not rely on it
  • A secret posting hour, hashtag set or trick that beats the system
  • That TikTok can stand in for your Google Business Profile, your reviews or your ads

Research first, then a steady rhythm, then more of what earned the visits.

Search and profile review

We look up what people near you search for in your trade, see which videos and accounts show up for those searches today, and go through your profile and recent posts. You get the list of searches and the first things we would fix.

Scripts and a posting plan

The searches become a month of short scripts with their on-screen text and captions, a plan for what to film and when, and a profile set up properly with the bio link and the tracking in place.

Post, reply, adjust

Videos go out on the agreed schedule and comments get answered. Each month we set what was posted against the profile visits, link taps and calls it brought in, and shift the next month toward what worked.

One good video can do several jobs.

Each shoot and each search list feeds more than one channel, and a viewer who liked a video usually checks your reviews and your map listing before booking.

Put spend behind what already works

We also run TikTok ads. A video that is earning search views on its own has already shown people want to watch it, which makes it a sensible one to boost to a wider audience in your area.

TikTok ads

Cut it again for Instagram and Facebook

Vertical footage shot for TikTok can be edited for Reels and for Facebook and Instagram campaigns, so the effort of one shoot reaches more than one audience.

Meta ads

Reviews close the gap

Someone who liked the video will often check your reviews before booking. A steady run of recent reviews, each one answered, is what turns that interest into an appointment.

Reviews and reputation

The map still matters

TikTok gets a business noticed. Plenty of people then open Google to find the address, the hours or the phone number, so your local listings have to be ready when they arrive.

Local SEO

How agencies run TikTok SEO under their own name.

When an agency sells TikTok SEO to a local client, we do the search research, the scripts, the posting and the comment replies behind the scenes. The monthly numbers arrive in the report template the agency already sends, so the client only ever deals with the agency.

What owners ask before starting on TikTok.

Do we have to dance, chase trends or go viral?

No. A trend can suit an entertainment account, but a local business is better served by video that answers a real search, because that kind of video can keep being found after the trend has moved on. Most of what we plan is plain on purpose: a question answered, a job shown from start to finish, a look behind the counter. If a trend genuinely fits your business we will use it, but the plan never depends on one.

Who films the videos, and does the owner have to be on camera?

Usually someone at the business films on a phone, because the real room, the real work and the people customers will actually meet are what make these videos believable. We write the scripts and the on-screen text, plan each shoot so it takes minutes rather than an afternoon, and handle the editing, captions, posting and replies. The owner does not have to appear. A stylist, a technician or a chef who enjoys explaining the work is often the better choice.

Can you guarantee we will show up first for a search?

No, and nobody can say that honestly. TikTok does not publish how its search ranks videos, results vary from one viewer to the next, and they shift over time. What we commit to is the work: the searches researched, every video built around one of them, a complete profile, answered comments and a monthly report of profile visits, link taps and calls. When something is not producing, the report shows it and we change course.

How is this different from TikTok ads?

TikTok SEO is organic: videos on your own account, found through search and recommendations, with no media spend behind them. TikTok ads pay for reach in your area on a schedule you set. The two work well together. A video that is already doing well without spend is a strong candidate to put money behind, and the search research tells the ads which topics people in your area care about.

Does TikTok help us on Google?

Sometimes directly, because Google shows TikTok videos in its results for some searches, so a well-captioned video can be found from both places. It does not replace the Google side of your marketing, though. Google's local results still turn mostly on your Business Profile, your review history and your website, which is the work of local SEO.

How long before we see anything?

It depends on the trade, the city and how steadily videos go out, so we do not put a date on it. Some videos pick up search views early, others build over several weeks, and a few never find an audience. You get a report from the first month showing what each video did, and we sit down with you after the first quarter to decide what to keep, what to drop and what to film next.
