Ignite Visibility vs WebFX for local businesses
Ignite Visibility and WebFX are both large full-service agencies. How they differ for a local business, what to ask each, and when a smaller team fits.
With Labor Day behind us, this is the week owners start drafting next year’s budget, and the marketing line is usually the one that gets argued over. Some of the businesses we talk to this month have outgrown a freelancer or a one-person shop and are looking at the big full-service agencies for the first time. Two names that often appear on the same shortlist are Ignite Visibility and WebFX.
Both are established full-service firms that publish a lot about how they work. The question for a local business is not which is better in the abstract, but which is built for a company your size, and whether a large agency is the right shape at all.
Who is making this choice
The owners comparing these two are usually past the startup stage: a multi-location practice, a home service company in several towns, a regional retailer, or a single location with a healthy budget and ambitions to grow. What decides it for them:
- Your size relative to their typical client. Being a large account at a mid-sized agency feels different from being a small one at a big firm.
- How much strategy you want versus execution. Some owners want a partner to set direction; others want a team to carry out a plan they already have.
- Who you will actually work with. At any agency of size, the people in the sales meeting and the people running your account are often not the same.
- How the results get reported. Rankings and traffic, or calls, bookings and revenue by location.
This year adds one more. In May, Google published guidance on its AI search features stating that optimizing for them is still SEO, and that unique content, technical soundness, good images and video, and a well-maintained Business Profile are what count. Any agency you hire should be able to explain its plan in those terms rather than selling a separate AI package.
Ignite Visibility in plain terms
Ignite Visibility is a full-service digital marketing agency covering SEO, paid media, social, email, conversion work and web design. Strategy sits at the center of how it presents its work, and it publishes a steady stream of articles, videos and guides on search and marketing.
Its strength is planning across channels. For a business with an in-house marketing lead and several channels to coordinate, a firm that plans across all of them and brings research to the table is valuable. A local business should ask who handles local search specifically, how the firm treats single-location or small multi-location accounts, and which team members will be assigned. Get the scope and term in writing.
WebFX in plain terms
WebFX is a large full-service agency offering SEO, paid advertising, social media, web design, content and more. It has built its own software for tracking marketing results, which clients use alongside the services, and it publishes a very large library of guides and explainers that many owners read long before contacting the firm. It pitches its services to businesses of many sizes.
Its strength is breadth combined with its own measurement tools. An owner who wants many services from one firm, with a platform that ties marketing activity to leads, will find that combination appealing. Ask what the software includes on your plan, how local search work is handled for your locations, and what you keep if you leave, and get each answer in writing.

Pros and cons
Ignite Visibility
Pros:
- An emphasis on strategy and planning across several channels.
- A good fit for a business with several channels to coordinate.
- A wide range of services under one roof.
- Plenty of published thinking to judge the firm by.
Cons:
- A small local business should ask how its account would be staffed and prioritized.
- Strategy-led work suits businesses with someone in-house to act on it.
- Local search needs should be confirmed rather than assumed.
WebFX
Pros:
- A broad catalog of services from one firm, which keeps the number of vendors down.
- Its own technology for tracking results.
- Extensive educational content that helps owners understand the work.
Cons:
- As at any large firm, the team you get matters more than the brand.
- With reporting in its own platform, confirm which data you can export if you leave.
- Local specifics, such as each location’s profile, need confirming in the scope.
Which fits which business
A regional healthcare group with a marketing director. Ignite Visibility’s strategy-led model fits, since someone in-house can direct and act on the plan.
A home service company that wants SEO, ads and a new site from one vendor, with tracking included. WebFX’s breadth and its own reporting tools suit that request.
A single-location practice or shop with a modest budget. Either firm may be more agency than you need. A smaller team that specializes in local businesses is worth comparing.
A multi-location brand already frustrated by a big agency. Ask each firm to name the people who will run your account, and meet them before you sign.
A local alternative worth a call
Beyaoshy works in a different shape from either firm. We have focused on local businesses since 2015, and everything we do is aimed at the local customer: the Business Profile for each location, local SEO, the website, Google and Meta ads, reviews and the CRM, all run by the same team so the pieces stay in step. Every account is opened in your name and the data stays yours if you ever move on. The report shows calls and bookings by location, which is what a local owner actually budgets against.
We also plan around the budget in front of us, including one that would be among the smaller ones on a large agency’s books. And agencies that sell to local businesses white-label our work, which means it is built to hold up under someone else’s name.
