Leaving Townsquare Interactive: what to keep
Before you cancel Townsquare Interactive, find out who holds the site, domain, Google profile, listings, reviews and phone numbers. A fair look first.
An HVAC owner in a slow week, a roofer between storm seasons, a towing company that just hired its third driver: the owners who ask us about leaving Townsquare Interactive rarely start with the marketing. They start with a worry. If they cancel, does the website go dark? Does the phone number on the truck stop ringing? Do the reviews go with it?
Those are the right questions, and they have answers. You just have to ask for them before the notice goes in, not after. This post covers what Townsquare Interactive is built for, what to check before you leave, and how the alternatives compare, including us.
The 60-second version
- Townsquare Interactive bundles a website, listings, reviews, Business Profile upkeep, ads, social, an app, domains, email and payments for local businesses.
- Its website page says the site "keeps growing every month you're with us." Ask in writing what happens to the site, its content and the domain if you cancel.
- Check six things before you leave: site, domain, Google profile access, listings, review history and every phone number.
- Google lets a business request ownership of its own profile, and ICANN says a domain holder can move to another registrar, with a 60-day lock after some contact changes.
What makes leaving any marketing bundle easy or hard
The work you paid for is rarely the problem. The problem is whose name everything sits in. A bundle is convenient on the way in because one company sets up every piece. On the way out, each piece has to be handed over, moved or rebuilt.
So the question that decides a switch is not “was the marketing good?” It is “which of these do I already control, and which ones does the provider hold for me?” The more you control, the shorter the to-do list. That holds for Townsquare and for anyone else, us included.
What Townsquare Interactive is built for
Townsquare Interactive is a Charlotte, North Carolina company whose site says it has spent “since 2012 working with local businesses, and nothing else.” It says outright that it does not work for enterprise brands or run national campaigns: its customer is the owner-operated business.
What it sells, according to its own pages, checked October 31, 2026:
- A website that it builds and then keeps adding to: service pages, location pages, FAQs and blog posts it writes for you.
- Listings and reviews, which it calls Independent Endorsement: listings synced across more than 200 directories, plus review monitoring and responses.
- Google Business Profile setup, optimization and ongoing management.
- Ads and social: targeted social ads, local display ads and social media management.
- A business management app with email and text campaigns, online booking, two-way texting, estimates, invoices, payments and automated review requests.
- Merchant services, business domains and business email.
Its industry pages name HVAC, roofing, plumbing, home remodeling, general contracting, landscaping, tree services, towing, legal services and food and beverage.
The credit it deserves is real. One company handling the site, the profile, the listings, the reviews and the tool that catches the lead suits an owner who never wants to manage five vendors, and its About page makes exactly that case. Its FAQ is also refreshingly plain: asked whether it can guarantee results or a place in AI answers, it says no, and warns owners to be careful with anyone who does. Every client, it says, gets a real person who knows the account, by phone.
Six things to check before you cancel
The website and its content. Townsquare’s website page says your new site “keeps growing every month you’re with us” and that it keeps adding content “for as long as you’re with us.” That is a selling point while you stay. Before you go, ask in writing: if I cancel, do I get the site files, the pages and blog posts written for me, and the photos, or does the site come down? Get the answer from Townsquare, not from a forum.
The domain. Townsquare sells domain registration and renewal tracking. Look your domain up on ICANN’s lookup tool at lookup.icann.org to see which registrar holds it, then ask who is listed as the registrant. ICANN’s registrant FAQ says moving between registrars is your right, but that you cannot transfer within 60 days of changing the registrant name, organization or email, and it suggests finishing the transfer before changing contact details.
Business email. If your email runs on that domain through Townsquare’s email service, the domain and the mailbox move together. Plan the email move first so customer replies keep landing.
Google Business Profile access. Open your profile’s People and access page and see who is listed as primary owner. Google’s help center says a profile can have several owners but only one primary owner, and that only owners can add or remove people. If you are not an owner, ask to be made primary owner before you cancel.
Listings. A sync across 200-plus directories is a service, so ask what each directory will show after it stops, and get a list of the listings and any logins created in your name. Our look at what Yext’s own FAQ says about cancellation shows how differently publishers can behave once a sync ends.
Review history and phone numbers. Google reviews belong to the profile, so keeping the profile keeps them. Reviews requested through the app, its contact list, and your estimates and invoices are a separate matter: ask for an export in a file you can open. Then check every phone number printed on the site, the profile, the listings and the ads. If one is not a number your business pays for, ask who holds it and whether it can be ported or forwarded after you leave. If you take card payments through Townsquare’s merchant services, ask whether that agreement ends with the marketing or runs on its own terms.

Strengths and trade-offs
Townsquare Interactive
- Strength: a single provider for nearly everything a local business shows online, plus the app that answers and bills the customer.
- Strength: years of focus on owner-operated businesses in the trades and other local categories.
- Strength: plain talk about guarantees and a named person to call.
- Trade-off: the website is described as growing while you stay, so its future after you leave is a question to settle in writing.
- Trade-off: a bundle that also holds your domain, email, listings sync and payments means more pieces to move at once.
Beyaoshy
- Strength: accounts sit in your name from the first day, so leaving us takes no untangling.
- Strength: one team covers the profile, ads, reviews, site and CRM, so a change in one reaches the others without a hand-off between vendors.
- Strength: you leave the first conversation with a plan whether or not you sign.
- Trade-off: we do not publish prices, so getting a number takes that conversation.
- Trade-off: if what you want is one login covering payments, invoices and marketing from a single vendor, Townsquare’s bundle is built around that.
Who Townsquare Interactive fits
- A new trade business with nothing online yet that wants the site, profile, listings and a booking tool switched on together and someone to phone.
- An owner who wants payments, estimates and marketing from one company and values that more than holding each account personally.
- A business in one of the categories it names, from towing to tree services, that likes working with a provider focused only on local companies.
Owners who already run their own booking or invoicing software, or who want every login in their own name before anything else, usually get more from an independent agency that builds around the tools they keep.
Why owners pick Beyaoshy for a move like this
- Everything we set up is in your name: domain, site, Business Profile, CRM, tracking numbers and ad accounts. If you ever leave us, there is nothing to ask for.
- One team runs the profile, ads, reviews, site and CRM together, and none of it is handed to a subcontractor.
- We have served 4,700+ businesses since 2015, and other agencies deliver our work to their own clients under their brand.
- The first consult is free, the evaluation is honest, and the plan is yours to keep even if you stay with Townsquare.
Where to go from here
If the six checks come back clean, you can leave on your own schedule. If they do not, sort out the domain and the profile first, since everything else points at them. See how we handle the Google Business Profile and website builds, or start with the overview for business owners.
You made it to the end. Now let's get you more booked jobs.
We set up and run this for home service companies, from the first search to the booked appointment. Tell us about your business and we will send back what to fix first.
- A free consult. A real conversation about your business, your area and what is not working yet.
- An honest evaluation. Where you stand in search, ads and follow-up next to the businesses you lose customers to.
- A plan you keep. What we would fix first and why. It is yours whether or not you work with us.
