HubSpot vs GoHighLevel for a small local business

HubSpot and GoHighLevel compared for small local businesses: what each CRM is built for, who runs it day to day, and which fits a phone-driven business.

The middle of the year is when a lot of small businesses admit the spreadsheet is not working. Leads come in by phone, text, web form, Facebook Messenger and the Business Profile, someone copies them into a list, and a few get lost every week. By July the owner has usually looked at two CRMs and cannot decide between them: HubSpot and GoHighLevel.

They are both good software, and they are built for different kinds of businesses and different kinds of users. Choosing well has less to do with the feature list than with who will run the system every day and how your customers prefer to talk to you.

What should drive the decision

Start with the day-to-day, not the demo. These questions settle most of it:

  • How customers reach you. Mostly by phone and text, or mostly by email and a longer sales conversation.
  • Who will run it. You, an office manager, a sales team, or an agency.
  • What needs automating. Missed-call replies, appointment reminders and review requests, or email nurture sequences and a sales pipeline with several stages.
  • Where you are headed. A single location that wants to stay lean, or a company planning a sales team and content marketing.

HubSpot, built to grow with a sales and marketing team

HubSpot is a CRM platform with separate hubs for marketing, sales, customer service and more, all sharing one contact database. Its strengths are well known: a clean interface, well-organized contact and deal records, strong reporting, a very large marketplace of apps that connect to it, and a deep library of training through HubSpot Academy. It suits businesses that sell through conversations over days or weeks and want marketing and sales in one place.

For a small business, the appeal is that you can start small and add hubs and seats as you grow. Some owners are also comfortable with it because their accountant, consultant or last employer used it.

The things to check are packaging and fit. Features are split across hubs and tiers, so confirm in writing which tier includes the automation, reporting and texting you need, and whether texting relies on an add-on or an integration. A phone-driven local business should test how calls, texts and appointment booking work in its specific setup before committing.

GoHighLevel, built for local businesses and the agencies that serve them

GoHighLevel is an all-in-one CRM and marketing platform built for agencies that run marketing for local businesses, and for the businesses themselves. Each account brings together contacts, pipelines, calendars, two-way text and email, calls, web forms, websites and funnels, review requests and a workflow builder, plus AI voice and chat agents that can answer calls and messages. Missed-call text back, appointment reminders and a review request after each job are standard patterns in it.

Its strength is that everything a phone-driven local business uses sits in one account, with the automations that tie them together. For a trade business or a clinic, that often replaces several separate tools.

The trade-off is that it rewards setup. Out of the box it is a toolkit with a lot of screens, and most owners get the most from it when an agency builds and maintains it for them. Ask who will build your account, who supports it, and which features your plan includes.

Which fits which business

A commercial cleaning company selling contracts to offices with a small sales team. HubSpot’s sales pipeline and email tools fit the longer sales cycle.

A plumbing or HVAC company that lives on calls and texts. GoHighLevel, built with missed-call text back, booking and review requests from day one.

A med spa or wellness clinic booking appointments. GoHighLevel, connected to the booking system, usually fits the daily rhythm better. HubSpot can work if the practice already uses it and staff are comfortable.

A business with an in-house marketer producing content. HubSpot’s content and email tools suit someone building an audience over time.

Where Beyaoshy comes in

GoHighLevel is the platform we build on. We think it fits most phone-driven local businesses well, and when a business would be better served by HubSpot, we tell the owner that plainly.

What we bring is the build and the running of it. Beyaoshy sets up the pipelines, the calendars, the missed-call text back, the review requests and, where it helps, an AI agent that answers after hours, then connects it all to the ads, the Business Profile and the website that feed it. One team handles every piece, so a lead from an ad and a call from the profile land in the same place. The account and every contact in it belong to you from day one. Reports show calls answered, appointments booked and jobs won, not just leads created. We have worked with local businesses since 2015, and other agencies also have us build GoHighLevel accounts for their clients under their own name.

Before you decide

Write down how the last ten leads reached you and what happened to each. The CRM that would have caught the ones you lost is the one to pick. Our GoHighLevel builds and AI agents pages show what we set up, and the page for owners explains how we work with a local business directly.
